I have an old EVA4000 with 2C4D configuration and 1 DG, for some reason I found out 5 disks that are in a failed state, I have replace one, for now, the in command view eva, its shown as leveling, and it looks like is going to take hours if not days until that leveling is 100% status.
Can I replace anothe disk? or should I wait until the leveling is done? How can I view if the failed disks belong to the same RSS?
We are setting a msa to build a testing environment.
The battery of a controller is shown failed and the write cache is disabled. And the "show connections" indicated the host ports of the two controllers connected to the san switch are Offline.
The host (hpux 11.11) "fcmsutil /dev/td0 get remote all" shows the MSA status " DVC_unopened", and ioscan cannot find out any luns.
Questions:
1. Is the failed battery the root cause? Can I make it functional with the bad battery, or I must replace it before I can use it?
2. After enable Hard_address, do I need restart the controller or the whole MSA array?

I will be replacing soon, but my question is: Do I have to power down the all EVA to replace it, or just the controller?

I am having issue on installing redhat os on hp blade bl460c gen 8 which has bcm57810.
I am trying to boot form SAN using FCoe and i really kind of confuse. I have updated my firmware from 7.10 to 7.12 i believe is the latest and also, it upgraded from Nextrem II to Qlogic. i really do not understad.
Also have a question how can i know which adapter whcih driver has on that server?

Here is the scenario:
While we are copying file less than 1TB, the speed transfer is approximately 80Mbps - 100Mbps (very well), but if we start to copy files more than 1TB - 4TB, the transfer rate decreases to 14Mbps.
The destination volume is 14TB, the disks are 4TB MDL on vraid5. The SO is Windows 2008 R2
Please your opinions about this behavior

i have 2 FC san switch i need to be cascaded.
first switch is configure by zone and fos:7.0.0c model HP 8/24 Power Pack FC SAN Switch
second switch is not configure yet and fos:6.2.0d model HP 8/40 Power Pack FC SAN Switch
my question, can be cascading without any problem becouse the FOS is different.

I am using a HP EVA3000 SAN Storage.
We had experienced a strange issue after a new disk encounted a loop failure.
1) Observed one disk with Predictive Failure in Bay 10.
2) Proceed to ungroup disk to prepare for disk replacement.
3) Ungroup took a few hours. Eventually, ungrouped disk status LED turned red. Status seen
in SAN Appliance GUI shows disk as ungrouped.
4) Inserted spare disk into Bay 10.
5) Selected Group to group disk back into array.
6) After Grouping, GUI reported Loop A of disk in not operational.
7) GUI showed several contradictory infomation.
A) Enclosure ID and Bay ID was Unknown as seen in attachments
B) Disk Icon appears in 2 places, one outside of the disk enclosure and other stating disk drive in this bay in unidentifiable. However, the disk was shown as grouped.
Could I know what happened? Anyway to resolve it without ungrouping again? Is the disk the issue? Should I change the disk?

first sorry for my English, i live in a french speaking country
i need help about an eva 4400, before the question, here are somme problems with the eva:
- one eva 4400 with 8 disk enclosure, is the production environement without replication.
- the firmware was not updated since 2008, which is the purshase date,
- Software version: 09003000
Base level: CR116D
Ctlr model: HSV300
- command view version 8.0
2 days ago, we come the morning and noticed that all hosts have lost access to volumes hosted in the eva, we also noticed that 2 HDD were faulty.
Each time we faced this kind of issue, when we shutdown and restart all the SAN infrastructure (2 or 3 times) in right order, it get back to normal state. but this time, we did it several times and nothing.
here are some components abnormal behavior:
- status leds on both controller keeps blinking without stop, which they try to boot without end, normal state should be solid green led
- SFP port with FC cable are not showing led, they become off 3 second after starting the eva.
- command view cannot detect the storage device.
even if i change controller one at a time on both sides, the issue remain the same, status led keeps blinking, and no led on sfp ports.
My questions are:
1.) do you thing that the controllers are dead?
2.) can faulty hard drives can make the controller trying to boot without without stop?
3.) in case of both controller gets faulty, can i change them without loosing my vdisk?

I am writing on behalf of the company I work for.
We have recently acquired an HP EVA P6000 Controller (brand new) with Command View Software and Licensing.
While trying to set this up using pre-owned disks which were bought out of a configured P6000 Controller belonging to some one else we've encountered a problem wherby we cannot initialize the controller since an existing configuration exists on the purchased disks, we are using 8 x 450 GB 15K HP Disks.
Our question comes here, is there a way we can wipe out the previous configuration from these purchased used disks to configure them for our environment and hence initialize our Controller and activate the license etc... ?
We were told that we might have to purchase brand new disks to initialize the controller than we can add our used purchased disks to add capacity and remove the previous configs, but this would incur extra charges which we would like to avoid.
Help would be highly appreciated.

Hope i am in the right area if not apologies.............I have managed to purchase x3 HP StorageWorks 8/20q FC Switches but i cant seem to gain access to them, I have tried resetting it using a pin which seems to take it to its default ip but not default user as it wont log me in using the default "admin" user and default password "password", i can access it from maintenance login using "prom" and "prom" and have managed to unpack the latest firmware but that is about it, i cannot get into the CLI to do anything else.......Anyone any ideas? HELP..........Please see attachment which shows the console screen..........
