Hi guys
I have a curious situation regarding replacement of 2 disk drives 900GB SAS in EVA P6300: after replacing and completing Leveling (one by one) of 2 broken hard disk drives HDDs Total Capacity of the Disk Group DG is reporting less than before why??
Before
8379 GB, Disk Drive Failure Protection Requested and Actual "Single" 12x 900GB SAS drives
After
8022 GB, Disk Drive Failure Protection Requested and Actual "Single" 12x 900GB SAS drives
Full details:
Controller HSV340 with firmware 11001100
HDD Model number EG0900FBLSK with firmware HPD5. This applies for both new and old HDDs installed on EVA P6300.
Is there a process like defragmentation applicable so we can restore total capacity as before??
Regards
Tried replacing faulty Disk, initially is Green LED, when trying to Group gives below error and marks faulty.
HPE sent us 2 Disks same issue in the same slot.

Hi
The following error will appear when command view installing. please guide me.
I need to explain that I have a HP Storage Work eva 4400, which I need to install Command View to configure.
Hi
We have an HP EVA 8100 and since some days ago we are not able to discover the storage system by using command view.
EVA is working and providing service, however the command view is unable to find the EVA. We have tried to find the storage system by using two different command view servers (both of them worked find since some days ago).
We have already reboot both command view servers, we have also reinstalled the command view software in a new server, we have check the switch zoning... nothing works.
We don't want to reboot the EVA (it is in production) unless it is essential to do it...
So we have think about using a newest command view software to check if that works.
I need to find a command view download link to get the HPE command view 10.x I just can find patches from 10.3 or similar, but I'm unable to find the original command view software.
Is there any way to get it?
Thanks!

Hello , Dear
I have an eva4100 system but it lacks mpx100.Can I use the server instead of mpx100?
We have inherited an old EVA. I think it's a 4000? It has two HSV200 controllers, 8 disk enclosures, and no switches. It has an annoying habit of randomly dropping fibre links on the disk enclosures, but it is cabled for full redundancy and so far this hasn't been more than an annoyance. Reseating the cable always brings the link back up again.
This time however, two ports on the B loop failed in short order. We have reseated both and the links have come back up as usual, however the Controller Properties screen in Command View still shows the Loop B Operational State as Failed. Clicking the Enable button next to it produces an Operation Succeeded message but nothing changes, it remains failed. Note that all the disks report Loop B State as Good - it only shows as failed on the controllers.
I am worried that if we experience another random link loss on the A loop in this state, we are going to lose access and possibly data. Can anyone suggest how to to get Loop B back again?
Thanks very much.
Hi,
We have an HP EVA 6400 (2 controllers). One of the controllers failed, the RAM and the memory card failed on it.
We bought a new controller and want to put it in place of the failed. In all the manuals for replacing the controller, it is required to save the memory card from the past and use it in the new one, but we cannot do this, since it also failed.
How do we "make friends" with these controllers, if they have different information on memory cards ?
Thanks
Hello All,
First of all, thank you for taking your time reading this new topic,.
I have a problem with the Storage EVA 6400, Today I decided to see physically the Storage from behind and I noticed that the Enclosure 1 and 3 have a Warning light on (orange color) light located just avobe where the cable is connected.
EVA 6400 - back
Inside the command view, we can see that the "Disk Enclosure 1 and 2" on the section I/O, the message on Module B says that the operational state is "Not installed" , very strange, how is it possible that no info appears for the I/O Module B on Disk Enclosure 1 and 2 ?
Enclosure 1 & 2:
Enclosure 1
Enclosure 2
Enclosure 3:
Enclosure 3
The "Disk Enclosure 3", a the I/O Module B is recognized but in the "Connection State" says "Link lost". ?
Is is possible to fix this if I change de I/O Module or changing a Cable?
I have attached a few SS for review.
Thank you very much for any help :)

Hi all,
we wanted to change the configuration of an eva 4400. We uninitialised the system, shut down the system and removed two of the eight disk shelfes. After powering on again, the management modules startet but both storage controller did not. Both controller stopped booting with an 'Address test verification failure'.
Here is the output of the controllers:

Hi All,
I have 4 EVA (8400 and P6500) at one site and using a single site management server (stms) . I am unable to find one EVA in the CV EVA. Server restarted but no luck.
I would like to know, if the stms server is zoned to same ports as other windows hosts are zoned or is there a dedicated port on EVA for management.
What are the standard troubleshooting steps to find the root cause? please help.
Good morning,
I'm new to this community and I do not have a thorough knowledge of the EVA4400, so I apologize in advance if I will write something inappropriate, but I need your experience to understand if what I want to do is possible.
On our EVA4400 there was a DISKGROUP (with n.9 HDD in SINGLE protection level) that contained n.5 VDISKs configured in VRAID1.
Over time, n.3 HDD have failed (I do not know in what time and if any leveling has been successful), but as long as n.6 HDD good remained, everything worked fine (DISKGROUP=Active, VDISKs=Online): as soon as a fourth HDD has failed (n.5 HDD good remained), all VDISKs have become unavailable.
After several attempts to extract and reinsert the filed HDDs, we decided to send all HDDs to a data recovery company (Kroll Ontrack), which was not able to recover the files of our interest, or rather it has recovered some files which however are corrupt.
Having available all the screenshots of the old configuration, I thought to recreate a new DISKGROUP with the same name and the same properties as the original one (we have enough spare HDDs available), then create the same VDISKs with the same names and properties of the original ones (possibly setting the WORLD_WIDE_LUN_NAME's as the original ones, through SSSU tools).
At that point, imagining that the membership of a HDD to a specific DISKGROUP is based on the WWN in some EEPROM of its electronic card, I thought to turn off the SAN, extract the HDDs of the new DISKGROUP, remove their electronic card to replace the card of the original HDDs, then reinsert the original HDD's and turn on the SAN again.
I kindly ask you a feedback on this possible solution to recover the original state of my configuration (although faulty), before it was canceled, restarting from which I hope to be able to repair the last HDD that has failed (since until a moment before everything worked fine ) and resurrect the VDISKs to access their data.
Thanks.
Matteo.
Hello All,
First of all, thank you for taking your time reading this new topic,.
I have a problem with a newly replaced I/O Module B on Disk Enclosure 2, I have performed a replacement of a damaged Module I/O for the Storage EVA 6400 5 days ago more or less and I noticed that the Operational Status at thate time was "Loading Firmware", Today we can see that the same Status is is showing in "Operational State" as you can see in the image:
We have just removed and installed the same module to see if the Operational Status changed but is still showing the same, the new I/O module has a Firmware Version 0105 when the rest of the modules are in Firmware version 0085, could this triggering the constant "Loading Firmware" ?
By experience we have performed before a I/O Module replacement for a EVA 4400 and it took 4 days to see if the Operational Status changed and it Did to "Good" the main difference it was that the Firmware version of the Spare Module was lower than the other Modules already installed on all Disk enclosures.
Thank you very much for any help :)

Hello Guys
In a LAB have a P2000 G3 and 7 host Hp Proliant G7.
The P2000 is connected to 2 Switch Brocade 300
The Controller A the port A1 is connected to Brocade_1 and the A2 is connected to Brocade_2
The Controller B the port B1 is connected to Brocade_1 and the B2 is connected to Brocade_2
Now in the GUI of P2000 all the hosts were discovered and show both HBA.
In the Brocade_1, I have zoned as follows:
Create Alias
- Alias: P2000_A1 WWN
- Alias; P2000_B1 WWN
- Alias: Node_01 WWN
Zone:
P2000_A1 + P2000_B2 + Node_01
In the Brocade_2 it has been zoned identical to Brocade_1
P2000_A2 + P2000_B2 + Node_01
My problem is when I create a new volumen, and map in the host, these do not appear in the OS. I test with Windows 2012 OS and the volumes are not shown either.
I have reviewed documentation, information about it and I have not been able to discover the problem.
Can someone tell me if the zoning is correct or can I check to see why the LUNs are not showing?
Thanks
Sebastian
I was asked to create a new Windows Server 2016 Hyper-v Cluster, and present storage from our EVA4400, but i'm facing real problems on this task. I see all storage on the servers, but its imposible to work with this storage, extremely slow access.
We have storage correctly presented from the same EVA to VMware 6 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, but it seems something changed on server 2016 version that does not permit to use our EVA4400.
Any idea how to solve this? Any "Custom type" operating system values?
Hardware versions:
StorageWorks Command View EVA v9.02.01.100426 (on Windows server)
EVA4400 - HSV300 - Version: 09534000 - Software: CR18CBlep-09534000

Hello.
I am using eva 4400 storage and i am having a lot of trouble in configuring the storage. It was working perfectly but after initializing it went unresponsive. The scenario is a management server having one fiber port connected to a switch then the switch connects to a both controllers cont1-FP1 and cont2-FP1. I have configured zonning correctly, the cabling of the back end storage looks okay as recommended by eva but some how controllers cannot detects arrays.
I also used SAN surfer to check the connectivity and it appears management server can see both the controllers but as soon as i clicked discover in CVE it discover a storage controller but when i clicked on controller it shows me a message that operation failed "Unable to perform command. Please try again". I have tried everything but nothing is working
I have literally tried everything. Could you please recommends what to do now!
