HP P2000G3 - Remove FC Host

Hi,

 

We recently removed a virtual Hyper-V guest, from our server infrastructure, and also removed the vFC adapter from the virtual machine.

Afterwards ive tried to delete the 2 hosts in the HP P2000 G3, but were only allowed to remove one of the host profiles.

When trying to delete the last host profile from the Web GUI, we receive an error: "The command had an invalid value (xxxxxxxxxxx) - Host was discovered, so it cannot be deleted"

From what i could read from other forum posts, we have to delete it through CLI.

When trying to delete host in CLI (delete host VMname-P1), we receive an error "The command had an invalid value"

 

What is the correct way to delete the discovered host, which no longer exists ?

Can't Access the EVA 4400 from the management port or even from the serial/console port!

Hi All,

Good day.

We are facing a critical issue with our HP EVA4400 SAN Storage, we shutdown our EVA for electricity maintainance then when we powered on the EVA again, we couldn't access the management module or even the console ports, no connection between the storage and the FlexFabric module and we can't reach the data than on disks! , so any luck to solve this issue?

Fabric segmentation : how to check with Brocade CLI ?

Bonjour,


I'm currently writing a procedure for a 1st level technical support team. The procedure will simply explain how to modify a WWN for a given Alias in fabrics.

All san switches are Brocade and the procedure will be executed through brocade CLI, not with the Web Tools.

At the very beginning of the process, I want that the operator running the procedure realizes some checks. In particular, control that the fabric is not segmented.

Because a segmented fabric doesn't occur frenquently I have very few background on how you can notice that the fabric is splitted. Seen it some times with Web Tools, never with CLI. And I have no free san switches to create a sandbox to play with :-(

I thought that the command "switchshow" could be a good approach, but you will have to connect to each of the switches that make up the fabric to do a full control. To heavy for a procedure that will just change a single Alias.

So is there a way, from a single switch in the fabric, with a single command, to detect if the fabric is segmented or not ? I wonder if "fabricshow" could do the job, but as previsouly said, I have no sandbox. If such a command exists, have you any example too ?

Reset HP Lefthand P4300

We've got two old HP Lefthand P4300 SAN, which we would like to use for training perposes. Because we don't know the passwords anymore, we would like to reset the setup using the HP P4000 Storage System Quick Restore.iso

I've downloaded the version 10.5 11.5 and 12.6

When using versions 11.5 and 12.6 the following error will be displayed after inserting the USB with the valid license key:

umount: /mnt/cdrom: not mounted
eject: tried to use '/mnt/cdrom' as device name but it is no block device
eject: unable to find or open device for: 'cdrom'
Auto Imaging done

When using version 10.5 the following erro will be displayed after inserting the USB with the valid license key:

VIRTUAL=24
This is not a virtual platform
hwid = 24
DEBUG: Invalid hardware unit - unit type number is [24]
Failed to find new OS partition, cannot create blatz file
Auto Imaging Done

In both cases the passwords aren't reset after a reboot. 

Can somebody point me into the right direction, I'm lost.

Brocade switch swapout

We currently have a DCX switch with 6 48-port blades that is going to be swapped out for a new DCX core switch in a couple of months.  During this process we will also be migrating the IP addresses for the switch to new subnets.  Due to space constraints I'm going to have to pull the fiber from the old switch, down it, install the new switch, replace the fiber and copy the zoneset to it.  It's been many moons since I've set up a new Brocade, so I thought I'd ask the team if there is anything additional I need to be aware of.

The new switch wil be configured with a different domain ID and different IP addresses on the two CP blades and for the VIP that floats between them.  We will be standing up a new BNA server in the new subnet for monitoring and management.

 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

This Vdisk resides in a disk group with an unresolved hardware failure.

how to change the status of the disks:
Operational state:     Operation in progress
Data state:     Reverting
They are in such a state without change over 20 hours

HPDM Multipath tar file needed

I have installed RHEL 6.5 in my server HP BL 460 .

Here I need HPDM multipath tar file i.e pakage (not single RPM) file  for RHEL 6.5   because i want to present LUN from my hp SAN

From net, I don't find specific link for this tar file.

 

It's helpful  if anyone can share the  specific link.

XP7 Configuration report

I am a big fan of the ability to create the configuration report via the "XP7 remote web console". I would like to be able to create this report from the command line (CLI). Is this a possibility? I beleive there was a tool on the older XP's called SANxpert. Is there something similar for the XP7 that a customer can use?

We have a P9500 connected to the ESX systems.

On the official HP website is the new release of xpinfo/p900info which should be supported on VMware.

But it does not work. 

Someone has got to try it?

P4300 node failed in 3 node cluster - no quorum

Hello - We have a cluster of 3 legacy P4300's running SAN/iQ 9.5.  One failed, and now I can't do anything with the cluster because there is no quorum.  I tried to add a virtual manager, but I get the message "You can only add a virtual manager when doing so will not cause a loss of quorum".  Any attempts to remove the failed node results in "Could not send the command because there is no quorum...".  Any suggestions on what else to try?  How can I establish quorum if it won't let me add a virtual manager?  Is there a way to force the removal of the failed node?  Or to force the addition of a virtual manager?  Any help is appreciated.

HP HSV200 SCSI Array Device

Hello,

I am new at the SAN configuration, so I need all the help I can get.

I was assigned to install and configura a SAN solution, and I hope I get the most part done. Here is what I have:
- one HP EVA 4100
- two HP StorageWorks 4/8 Base SAN Switches
- one HP DL380 G5 Base Storage Server
- one one MSL4048 LTO 4 Fiber Channel Tape Library

So far, after a huge amount of research I think I got the Switches configured, whit Aliases, and Zones to proper ports. Also, I created Disk groups, vdisks, and hoasts. Now I have to preset the disk to a hoast, but the server does not see any disk.
Looking at a different server, similar configuration as mine (on a different network, not the one I'm in) I saw in Device Manager, for the Disks, the "HP HSV200 SCSI Array Device", which does not show on my server. The only disks I see on my server, are the phisycal disks that the server has.
Could this be just a driver issue? Everything looks good in device manager; I don't have any pop-ups for installing any driver, but I still cannot see the Presented vdisk.
Is there any specific task involved on the server to see the presented vdisk? I just go in Disk Management and rescan for disks after any change I made, but still nothing.
What am I missing?
Any sugestions would be really appreciated.

StoreVirtual 4730 - Queue Depth

Hi folks!

We're using a HP StoreVirtual 4730 with 4 nodes seperated to two sites. Now i've got questions about the "Queue Depth" paramter showing in performance monitor. 

First one is, what is a bad value or where is the limit to bad performance viewing this sensor?

Second one, where can i check the "queue length" of my StoreVirtual Adapters?

HP 2040 SAN Storage

Hi,

I have an HP 2040 Storage with me connected to Cisco nexus 2k. Our network team is facing challenge in pinging the management port on the storage.They confirm that the speed on the mgmt port is set to 100mbps and it should be changed to 1gbps or Auto so that they can communicate with the switch.

I would like to know whethet its possible to modify the speed and duplex type of the management port on the storage usign CLI or GUI. If its possible then please provide the commands or steps to do the same.

Expanding vDisk in EVA

I am hoping someone can help me. 

I am fairly new to HP Storage and my company has two large HP SAN's running the EVA interface. I have recently added new disks to one and expanded some of the vDisks fine. I am trying to now expand a vDisk on the other SAN (which I have not added new disks to, but has over 3 TBs of free storage) and when I type in the new 'Requested' storage figure, it asks me to confirm deletion of the vDisk. 

It did not do this on my previous expansion, and the deletion question has rather put me off trying to expand this. Why would it be asking me to delete?

Connecting MSA30/MSA20 to MSA100/MSA1500

Hi All,

I have fine workinfg disk arrays consisting of

   1) MSA1000 and one MSA30

   2) MSA1500 with 2  MSA20

They work fine with my OpenVMS system

 

However  I needed some more disk space. So I connected another MSA30 to the second SCSI connecttion on my MSA1000. I was realy disapointed when the new disks did not show up in the MSA1000 controller: I could only see the "old" disks.

Then I tried to connect a MSA20 to the MSA1500. I had to insert an extra SCSI controler into the MSA1500. But also here only the "old" disk are seen.by the MSA1500 controller. When I login directly to the MSA20 a "show disks" list all the disks. I'm a little worried by the the displayed enclosure id of the MSA20 (which is 01) and is equal to the one displayed on one of the "old" boxes.

 

What am I missing, and how can I get my MSA1000 & MSA1500 to the the new MSA20 & MSA30 boxes?

I want to connect my MSA 1040 10GbE dual controller storage with HPE FlexFabric 5700 32XGT 8XG 2QSFP+ Switch using 10GbE cables. Please suggest me which cable should i use and the technology behind this? is there any options without any DAC cable? if it is DAC cable how should it be connected ?
