WWPN is not visible on SAN Switch
I have problem with our Blades where WWPNs are not visible on SAN Fabric for us to provision the existing LUNs of an existing cluster. I have copied the profile from working server. What I noticed is the SAN FABRIC uplink port.
042 Server is the working server or where we copied the profile, this servers has uplink port 2.
077 server is the new server that we can't make the WWPN visible on SAN Switch and it has no uplink port.
I'm thinking this could be the problem and wondering how to solve it.
SN6000B switches
We are having issues accessing our HP SN6000B switches in a browser. Firefox and Chrome won't connect at all, and IE allows a login and then hangs at about 15%. I believe it has something to do with the version of Java. What is the last version supported?

MSA2042 connect a P2000 to it
Hi all
I need some help here.
We use VMware and we have 30VM's.
1 x SBS 2008 (DC, File Server, Exchange is stopped since we moved to office365 and Wsus is off)
1 x SQL Server
1 x Application Server
1 x VoIp Server
1 x Firewall
25 x Win7 client workstations (simple 3gb ram 2 vcpu 64GB disks thin provisioned)
We currently have a MSA P2000G3/FC iscsi LFF that has on it
8x600GB 15K SAS (Raid 10) for VM's
3x3TB 7.2K SAS (Raid5) for Data (no DB's or anything, just file serving)
3 HP servers (2xDL80G9, 1 DL380G6) are connected to it with FC 8GB Cards and all working fine. All 3 servers are basic with no special raid controllers in them and they just have a system disk.
What we want to do is to make the whole system a bit faster as matter IOPS. We found after extensive reading that the best value for money for our needs is to do SSD Caching and to achieve this we have 2 Scenarios since ALL Flash is too expensive yet.
In both scenarios, we don’t care for the current data since when this will happen we will do backup and recreate all the raids etc. and all the Vcenter config also. Basically, it will be a clean install in all servers and restore of VM's.
- To upgrade to MSA2042 SFF that includes 2x400GB SSD and that MSA will connect the P2000 as disk enclosure and it will see the disks on it and control them. Then we will setup the SSD's to do Caching and the overall speed will be improved. All the host will connect to 2042 and disconnect from P2000. Off course we will also gain all the virtualization benefits that the new MSA generation has.
- To upgrade the Servers. Each server will get the latest Raid controller from HP (all 3 will get a P840/4GB) and 1 x 400GB SSD with HP SmartCache enabled. The 600GB disks of the MSA will go to the 3 servers (we will buy additional 1 x 600GB so each server will get 3 x 600GB in raid 5).
The 3TB disks will stay to MSA and maybe we will add more disks 3TB to it if we need more file space.
So, the question is if anyone can help... between the 2 scenarios in our mind the 1st solution is better because we like the NAS side of things and the ability that in a failure of a host (scenario 2) we will be able to run the VM's that the problematic host had to the other 2. Also we can add more hosts to it as we grow.
Off course if the MSA fails then all 3 servers will go down but since 2010 we had the P2000 we never had any kind of trouble and it was rock solid except that we changed in all this years 3 disks that went off. Also, we do daily backups of everything (offsite also) so in a total loss we can do a full restore under 6 hours.
Another thing that puzzles me in the technical document of the MSA2040/2 is that it says that it can have the P2000 as enclosure (which is what we want to do in 1st scenario) but it cannot use the SSD drives for other reason as simple disks, in specific it says, "When using the P2000 G3 Storage Enclosure with MSA 2040 controllers, you will not be able to use SSD drives or have some of the performance benefits of the MSA 2040 Storage Enclosure."
What that really means? if that means that if I connect an SSD in the P2000 it cannot use it as Cache which is logical, or that means in general no matter where the SSD is putted in 2040/2 or P2000 it cannot use it as Cache? if the 2nd is true then our whole planning in scenario 1 is pointless.
Some expert guidance or opinion is needed here :)
Thx in advance
Chris

Missing Driver for HSV210 scsi array controller device
I have installed command view 10.3.8 on the following Proliant server
HP Server Model :
Product: HP DL380G5 CTO Chassis
Product number: 391835-B21.
But I was not able to get the command view to discover the EVA8100.
However the window is able to see the vdisks presented to the Proliant server from my old command view server.
From the windows in the server, the device manager shows that ? question mark on the Driver for HSV210 Scsi Array controller device.
Where can I get the driver for the following?
is this the cause of the command view not able to discover the EVA8100.

HP XP P9500 VMWARE Host mode options for ESX5.5
Hello Specialists,
I am often confused with documents read about host mode option settings to be used for VMware ESX 5.5. When Some documents says best practice is to use both 54 and 63 others says 54 is only for esx4.x. I understand there is no harm if I enable both. However, need to understand both and wanted to know will it make any difference IF I did not use host mode option 54 for ESX 5.5.
Please help me understanding it.

Hello everyone!
When we start the controller we make an uninitalize system from controller web interface with power off and lost our license. That is may be a most big mistake that i ever made in my work with digital equiment... =(
Currently system works fine on Instant-ON free license that will be expired after 60 days.
We buy a used AG637B controller from seller that located at Germany but our location is different and our supplier can't help.
I know that Dell company via suport call make help with license recovery for old and used hardware without any fee and other issues. But with HP support i don't know where i can get the help!
Please help! If anybody know:
1. Where is i can get a support from HP (all forum topics with same problem contains broken links and my reuest via web form at common HP support site currently no with responce over two weeks).
2. Is this a way for paid recovery or free recovery for old used HP hardware buyed without any contracts and no warranty?
3. What happens when 60-day trial will be expired?

License Command View for Old Strutucre
Hi,
Recently a customer acquired an HP storage structure used. He purchased all the hardware, but not the management software.
I configured the structure using the HP P6000 Command View v10.3 in the evaluation period. We tried to purchase the software from an authorized HP reseller but they said that the hardware is obsolete and that HP is no longer supported.
Is there an HP channel where I can try to purchase the software or restore the old license?
Without the software I can not perform any maintenance, like changing defective HD, correct? (This was my first contact with such structures).
Infos:

2x HSV200-B FC Controllers

Thanks for attention!

Upgrade HP P6000 Command View EVA_Patch_10_3_7_ABM broken management controller
Hi all,
I did an upgrade on our two P6300 with HP P6000 Command View EVA_Patch_10_3_7_ABM. On one management controller all works fine to upgrade from 10.3. But on the second I had problems. The upgrade process works fine. All was done with out problems. After rebooting the management controller it didn't answer on web requests. I went down to our serverroom and saw that the amber LED on the management module glow solid amber. I tired to reset and reseat the management controller. The reset didn't work. After reseating it the green LED has blown three times and then it went solid amber again.
Has anybody an idea what happens? Is there a way to recover it without the web interface?
Regards Thomas
Windows XP 64 - MSA 2040 Chassis Driver
I'm trying to find a Windows XP 64 driver for the MSA 2040 chassis to prevent Windows from prompting to install a driver each time the server is restarted.
We have a mix of Win7 x64, Win2012-R2 and several WinXP 64 servers and only the XP servers are unable to identify the chassis. It's more of a cosmetic prompt but annoying the customer.

EVA 4400 Information Alert and How To Restart Each Controller
We have a EVA 4400. We just had a controller replacement after which the SAN is logging the following Informational event Code 11010025 every 3 minutes: "A request was made by the NET component to log an event". the controller replacement also upgraded our firmware from 09534000 to 10001000.
Not finding any relevant info on these alerts (why they are occurring and how to resolve them), a thought was to reboot each controller (wait till the first controller comes back online then reboot the 2nd controller so as not to take down the EVA and allow production to continue unaffected).
What is the best way to restart each controller, one at a time? From Command View, is the correct way to restart a controller by going to System Options - Shut Down System checkbox - then Restart Button? Is it best practice to restart Controller 2 first before Controller 1? under the CV Hardware section, on each controller module I only see the "Shutdown" button - not restart.
What is the CLI commands to restart a controller?
This is our Production SAN so by restarting each controller one at a time, I am assuming I would not impact any current data connections (VMs on datastores won't go down) and/or performance while the one controller is rebooting.
Thank you!
Problem installing Microsoft KB hotfix needed before 3PAR upgrade
Hi
We're in the process of planning a OS upgrade on our 3PAR SAN. I have been sent a "HPE 3PAR OS Upgrade Preparation Guide" listing the pre-upgrade checks needed to be done before the upgrade.
Among other things there is a list of recommended Microsoft KB's which needs to be installed before the upgrade on the Windows hosts to avoid any post-upgrade problems.
For Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 KB2754704 and KB2821052 is listed as neede. The hotfix for KB2754704 installs without any problem but the hotfix for KB2821052 tells me that it is "Not applicable" for two of our servers.
I have of course checked that it has not already been installed using the command "dism /online /get-packages | findstr KB2821052" which returns nothing which means that the KB is not installed.
Anyone here that have experienced a similar problem?
It could be that the KB has been superceded by another KB, but I can't find any information indicating that.
Best regards,
Jesper
