Hi everyone!

I'm a newbie!

I want to ask about functionality of SFP port on HPE SN3000B.

I want to know SFP port on SN3000B can be hot-swap or not? I read from spec but didn't saw anything relate sfp support hot-swapable.

And can be configure 1 + 1 redundancy or not?

Thanks a lot!

Need advice on changing a failed disk

$

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working with a StorageWorks P6300 EVA with a failed disk and I'm seeking some advice on the correct method of replacing it.

The failed disk (2TB) is part of a 6 disk group (please see the attached pictures for group & disk details).

I also have a few ungrouped 2TB drives already in the EVA that can be used as replacements.

From my research, I'm seeing a variety of methods to replace a drive but I am unsure which of them is the correct way to go.

Is the replacement method as follows?

  1. Ungrouping the failed drive
  2. Choosing to ungroup in the background and allowing that to finish
  3. Group one of the unused 2TB drives in the EVA into the disk group
  4. Click the Remove button on the failed disk

I would appreciate some feedback on the above.

Best Regards

Understanding Uninitializing in the HP P6000 Control Panel

$

Hi, and thanks for taking your time to read this.

Here at our company we have recieved a HP rack with an HSV300 and two AG638B fiber channel enclosures. As our policy is to zero wipe all hard drives we sell, we needed to make sure we are wiping these fiber channel drives.

So far:

Both controllers are connected to the FC enclosures. There are 8 FC drives in each enclosure. We hooked up a laptop with a ethernet cable to the management module, and connected to the HP p6000 control screen. We log in and am able to view the drives in cammand view. Then we went back and chose the "Uninitialize Drives" option, and went ahead with it. "Operation Sucessful" immediatly pops up.

I just wanted to know exactly how uninitialization works. Is it actually zeroing all the drives? Or is it a simple format? We cannot deem drives being "wiped" if they are not zeroed.

Now if they are not being zeroed, is there any other possible way to wipe the drives? Fiber Channel is really different from the usual SATA and SAS drives....

Any other tips or wisdom is welcome. Have a nice day.

Replace battery of eva 6400

Hello,
I have an EVA6400 (HSV400), one of the batteries of the cache controllers is in fault.
I tried to replace it with one with the spare number 512735-001.
I bought 3 batteries but none of them appears in good condition.
The P/N is the same in all (AD262B), and the only difference is the Rev in the original is D4 but in the new ones it is A3.
The new batteries are refurbished, I do not know if there will be any expiration mark.
You could help me.
Thank you

Leveling is stuck at 7%

History:

EVA 4400

I'm new to EVAs. Didn't know they existed until 3 months ago. Now I "support" 3.

One of them had a drive fail. During the leveling process 4 other drives failed. After that leveling process completed   I replaced 3 of the 4 drives. (all we had) The machine started leveling again and spitting out this error:

A hardware failure has occured in this disk group. The advanced virtualization features on your system have prevented any data from being lost, but the level of prtection in the disk group is degraded. Please repair the hardware failure as soon as possible etc etc etc etc.. This message pops up every 5 seconds or so.

I was tol do wait forthe leveling process to complete before making any further changes. It has been 3 weeks of leveling and the percentage was stuck at 6%. for 2 of the 3 weeks. Yesterday it jumped to 7%. Do I need to wait 93 weeks for it to finish?

EVA4400 Firmware Needed

Hi!

We have 2 EVA4400 (1 EVA4400 and 1 EVA4400 Embedded Switch) that were under a HP contract until HP stopped supporting it a few years ago. We had both EVA's at 11300000 (controllers), but had to replace a controller that has 11200000. Would like to upgrade, but don't have the firmware file anymore. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Emil

Hi,

I have upgraded an EVA4400 to HP P6000 and following the upgrade manual it says that in order to obtain the Thin Provisioning license I need to go to http://www.software.hp.com/kiosk which is no longer available. Does anybody know how can I obtain the license upgrade for this feature?

Thanks!!

Migrate from one EvA Server to another

$

We have HP P6000 CV 10.2 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine managing 3 storage systems.  We would like to move to a Windows Server 2012 R2 with HP 6000 CV 10.3.  I cannot seem to find any documentation or instructions about migrating to a new server.

So two questions:

1.  Where can I find documentation about moving control of an EVA storage system to a new server?

2. Will changing the server that manages these systems take them offline?

open port at firewall for EVA P6000

Hi

There are three EVA P6000s and customer did set IP addresses with Management Module.

Customer tried to access all EVAs at management PC through Chrome but he can’t access.

He checked ports blocked at firewall and he found he need to open ports such as 34562, 52705 and 56438.

After opening customer can access all EVAs. The three EVAs uses each different port.

Customer’s questions are “Why should customer open three separate ports such as 34562, 52705 and 56438 ?”

and “Are there any port policy with EVA for firewall ?”.

Port permitted at customer firewall :

2372, 2374, 5988, 5989, 2376, 2377, 2379, 860, 2386, 3202

Controller firmware version : 11200000

Hello!

I have EVA 8400 in the productive mode (2 controllers and 16 disk enclosures). I need to add 2 new disk enclosures ONLINE. I used documentation https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01867959 (page 27). When I break loop number 1 and connect new disk enclosures, I get I/O Module A Operational state - Loading firmware... The firmware for I/O Module is not updated and I can't connect second loop - I'm afraid of losing data or tearing data off...

In lof file i get next error:
SC Event Code: 066df308 - The controller cannot continue to codeload any Enclosure hardware requiring updates until backend redundancy is restored.

Please help someone solve this problem. Thanks

EVA4400 doesn't show disks at Command View

$

Hello everyone,

I am a trainee in a small IT-Service company. We have a EVA4400 with 2 disk shelfs and I am trying to make the whole thing work. What I already did:

- installed the EVA and the shelfs in a server rack
- connected them with a loop
- power on/access via web interface (of the management module)
-did the whole network configuration and so on...
- installed 8 disks (4x 300 GB and 4x 146 GB)

The problem is, that after the initialization the folloing error message appears:

'Operation failed! Building View List Object - Failed.'

My problem is, that I can't see the list of disks in the Command View, after I initialzied it. Instead I get an Internal System Management Error, which says, that the storage system isn't able to communicate with its management module.

In addition to that, a led of controller 2 is flashing orange, but I can't imagine, that this is part of my problem, because there are 2 controllers and one seems to work normally.

I would be happy if you guys had any ideas! :)

Marcel
