HP EVA4400

Good Morning,

For disk space reasons, I had to temporarily add an expansion drive to the my EVA-4400 with 12 disks of 1Tb in RAID-0. The problem is that one theses disks has failled and I have no access to all the contents of the drive. I need have access to the data urgently and found the following option on the console:

Disk Group Hardware Failure

- The following Vdisks and data replication groups have failed as a result of a hardware failure in this disk group.

- Failed Vdisks

- Virtual Disks\VOLUME-TEMP\VDISK-TEMP

- Failed Data Replication Groups

- No failed DR groups

 

I ask you which one with two options listed should I follow to recover and have access to the expansion data considering that I have a new disk to replace the defective one?

EVA 8400: two I/O modules replaced and stuck in "loading firmware"

Hi HPE storage experts,

  I have two I/O modules with yellow alert in P2. I saw HPE employee replaced I/O moduled and fixed it before. I buy two I/O modules and replaced but after more than 1 hour, both I/O modules still stuck in "loading firmware".

"If you add or replace an I/O module, the EVA will always check and correct the firmware. After loading the firmware it will reboot the module, if it is redundant.

In your case it is still working, but not redundant (no cables connected yet), hence it cannot reboot. You don't have another choice other to continue and add the other loop."

> This tell me I should make sure it is redundant. But I have two I/O modules failures right now so it can't be redundant anyway.

 

How do I fix it? I have called HPE support center.

EVA P6550

I just read somewhere that logs can be downloaded on the P6550. I want to make sure this unit is completely factory reset includeing removing any logs, settings config, on the Managment module, Conrollers etc. How do you delete the logs so nothing is remaining. It needs to be completely cleansed. 

Also it looks like the Controller settings and config can be checked or reset throught the command view. Is there any concern or anything to check if the Conroller has a console port. I had one that had a oddly keyed console port and not sure if there there would be any data that needs to be removed.

Update EVA4400? - "Storage System Version Not Supported"

In my workshop test system, I installed two HSV300 controllers for a test. It seems now that the software on the management module does not fit to the controller software... I get the message "Storage System Version Not Supported" when connected to the Command View website.

"The version of the storage system you are attempting to manage is not supported by your management server's version. To manage this system, you must update either your storage system firmware or your management server software."

Current versions:

XCS version: 11200000 
XCS build: CR229Clep 
Management firmware: mmp-0001.4200-CR0670 

 

By connecting to IP:2373 (Management site) I was able to update the management module from the CV9.3 ISO DVD

The question is:
How to update the controller software when access to the Command View is restricted? The ususal menu guided way does not work because all I see is that message above. So Command View is currently useless...

Are there any other options to update controller software without the CV Web interface??

I need to replace 2 Brocade switches in a fabric connected via ISL

Hi

I currently have 2 Brocade 6510s and 2 IBM B24 switches connected together via ISL E-port to make one fabric.

The 2 IBM B24 is out of support therefore I need to swap them out and replace them with 2 Brocade 6510s.

Do I need any license for the 2 new Brocade 6510s when I connect them to the 2 old Brocade 6510s via ISL link?

Once the ISL link is made on the new Brocades will the zone config be automatically download to them? or do I need to do something else to get the old zone config onto the new switches?

Do you have any process I can use to do the replacement please?

forward logging event to external log server

In Command view 10.1 for HP EVA p6000 storage works, I'd like to forward every console logging event to my log server, can I configure it an external log server into command view ?

Command View EVA on Windows 2016 or 2019???

Folks,

Have anybody out there tried installing Command View on Windows 2016 or 2019? I know that this is something that HPE has not tested (or will) so just wondering if it will work ok. I only need to keep our last EVA for another 6 months or so.....

No storage systems are visible from this instance of HP P6000 Command View

Dear HEP Product Expert.

I am using HP EVA Storage EVA4400 with 2  Controller, We install HP P6000 Command View Software version 10.3.0 on Window Servere 2008 R2. and connected to controller 2, but currently the controller 2 has failed and i switch FC connection to controller 1 instead. I go to open the HP P6000 Command view softwer ->PS600 CV- and see the below message

No storage systems are visible from this instance of HP P6000 Command View for any of the following reasons:

o There may be no storage systems connected to your SAN.

o If there are storage systems connected to your SAN, they may be password-protected. To make your password-protected storage systems visible, click the Management Options button and follow the menus to configure your Storage System Access settings.

o Because of network switch configuration, your storage systems may not be visible. Reconfigure your switches.

o One or more storage systems in your SAN may be running on one controller. Ensure that both controllers in each storage system are connected and running.

How can we connect HP P6000 Command View to Controller 1?

Hi ! We have a problem with hp eva P6000. We have 2 controllers configured in mirroring mode, at the moment one controller - number 2 is died and we need to remove the mirroring mode so that the EVA works with only one controller, please help me to do this

HP EVA P6300. Difference between allocation and requested space.

Hello! 

I have a HP P6300. One of disk groups has difference between allocation space and requested space. All of vdisks are THICK. I don't use snapshots, clones, so on. How it possible and what I must do to eliminate this difference?

There is output of SSSU:

How to set the silkworm 2800

I wish some technician would help me.
To experiment in the world of SAN with FC I bought two EVA system disk arrays.The AD542B model with the AD624B and AD623B interface.
My HP Z420 workstation has its HBA.If I connect the HBA directly to the cab, I see all the drives and can operate with them without problem.
If I connect the Z420 and AD542B to a Silkworm 2800 Fiber Switch, the Switch sees the workstation but cannot see the AD542B. and in the port where is attached teh ad542B the switch tell port 12 : no_sync
If I replace the Silkworm with the 352FC loop switch the communication is perfect.
My question is:
How should I configure the Silkworm to act the same as the 352FC does?, it is possible?

how to connect multiple AD542C without HSV controller

Greetings to all members of the group.
I ask for help from an expert to see if I can finally solve my difficulties. I explain the situation.
I have a workstation (HP Z420) with its corresponding HBA (LSI7404XP-LC). The board connects to two AD542C disk enclosures (14 x HD 500Gb FC) that are connected in series, so that the FC cable enters the upper connector of module A (M5413) of enclosure 1, and the lower connector of That M5413 comes out another cable that connects to cabinet 2. The disks have been assigned in windows not with letters but with "drive paths", such as: Cabin xx Disk YY,   with XX = 01, 02 and YY = 01, 02, ..., 14.
With this structure, the 28 discs are perfectly accessible and reading and writing on them is done without difficulty.

My idea was that instead of this structure, computer and each cabinet, they would be connected to a FC switch, but no matter how hard I tried, modifying the type of switch port I cannot communicate, it is impossible to access any disk.

I have tested with the following models:
Silkworm 2400,  2800,  200E all of them type Fabric and 352 FC this a loop switch.

This is my question:
How should I configure the ports for any of these switches to act as a hub?
Don't these switch models allow such a configuration?

EVA 8100 Multiple Battery replacement But Showing failed Again and again

We have replaced Multiple Battery in the Storage controller A  but Still, the issue is not resolved.

recently we have replaced two batteries but both are showing status:-charging  not installed.

Steps we already Followed:-

1. Restart the controller.

2. Restart the management server.

3.check the controller backplane it looks good no sign of rust or corrosion.

4. Rebooting the controller one by One.

Going to take action:-

1.Power cycle the storage.

2. if the issue same replace the controller A.

looking for more Suggestions and exerts view on this to get it to resolve.
